DTF
DTF printing is an innovative digital printing technology that allows ink to be applied directly to a film specially prepared to transfer the image onto various surfaces such as fabric, plastic or wood. I outline the key steps in the process below:
-
Graphics Preparation: Graphics for printing are prepared using graphic design software. It is then adapted to the requirements of the DTF technology.
-
Printing onto Foil: Graphics are printed directly onto a specially prepared foil, which has a coating that allows ink absorption.
-
Drying Ink: After printing, the ink is dried to create a durable surface and increase adhesion to the substrate.
-
Transfer to Substrate: The dried printed film is transferred to a target substrate, such as fabric. Under heat and pressure, the ink transfers from the film to the target surface.
-
Fixing the Print: Once the print has been transferred to the substrate, the process may require additional fixing, for example by heat drying.
-
Final Finishing: Depending on requirements, the print may undergo additional processes such as fixing or pressing to achieve the desired properties.
DTF printing enables accurate colour reproduction, even on a wide variety of surfaces, making it popular in advertising, apparel and many other industries.
