Dirasol 916 is a versatile, dark blue diazo photopolymer emulsion designed for high quality screen printing matrices in graphic and speciality ink systems.
It provides exceptional sharpness, precision and matrix durability, making it ideal for high-volume printing with high quality requirements.

General characteristics:

  • Universal two-component emulsion of the diazo-photopolymer type

  • Excellent resistance to solvent, UV, water-based and graphic inks

  • Outstanding sharpness and excellent image resolution

  • Short exposure times and good release properties

  • Optimum matrix contrast for easy retouching and matching

  • High durability for large print runs

  • Good resistance to mounting tape peeling

Technical properties:

  • Solids content (sensitised emulsion): 40%

  • Dry film weight (2+2 layers, 120 mesh): 41 g/m²

  • Matrix thickness: approx. 10 µm

  • Viscosity of sensitised emulsion: 4500 mPas (25°C)

  • Stability of sensitised emulsion: 1 month (22°C)

  • Stencil-coated durability: 1 month (22°C)

Protective light:

Work with Dirasol 916 emulsion should be carried out under low blue and UV light.
A full photographic darkroom is not required, but the use of yellow lighting or weak tungsten bulbs is recommended.
The working room should be free of daylight or protected by a yellow coloured film.

Emulsion sensitisation:

Dirasol 916 emulsion is a two-component system consisting of:

  • Part A: coloured emulsion,

  • Part B: diazo sensitiser.

Preparation:

  1. Pour water (about 80% of the volume) into the bottle with the sensitiser and stir until completely dissolved.

  2. Add the sensitiser solution (B) to the emulsion (A) and mix thoroughly with a plastic or wooden stirrer.

  3. Allow the emulsion to stand for approximately 1 hour to remove air bubbles before application.

Grid preparation:

  1. The mesh should be thoroughly degreased to obtain maximum adhesion of the emulsion.

  2. Automatic equipment with Seriprep 300 can be used, or the process can be done manually with Seriprep 102.

  3. For manual cleaning:

    • Wet the mesh,

    • Apply the preparation with a sponge or brush, using circular movements,

    • Leave for a few minutes, then rinse with cold water,

    • Dry the mesh completely before coating with emulsion.
